I am a broker associate in the Totowa area, so I was able to check the tax records for you.  The county tax records show the house was built in 1965.  If you want to be accurate, you can visit the tax assessor in Totowa and ask to view the Property Record Card--this should give you more accurate information on the year built.  If the record verifies the date you mentioned, you can point this out to the tax assessor.

i find this very strange.  WE BOUGHT THE HOUSE WHEN WE MARRIED IN NOVEMBER 1954.  SO OBVIOUSLY IT WAS ALREADY BUILT!
