I am not an attorney, but a Professional Property Manager.  Please consult with an attorney before acting on anything posted here.

What does your lease say?  If the lease doesn't say that the landlord can give notice at any time, then usually the lease has to be honored.  Think of it this way . . . if the landlord can expect the tenant to honor the lease, then the tenant can expect the landlord to honor the lease.  If you could leave at anytime with 30 days notice, then so the landlord can do the same thing.

Many sales agents do not think of or honor Tenants Rights.  Their eagerness for a commission from a sale keeps them from acting with integrity towards the tenant.

Review your lease, know your rights, and call an attorney if you have doubts or questions.

Hope this helps!  Happy renting!
