The way I like to think about it to help my memory... is 1/8 mile by 1/8 mile is 10 acres.  (That means a "section" (1 mile square) is 640 acres).

Since one mile is 5280 feet, 660 feet x 660 feet is 10 acres.

Though it is not easy for me to remember that 66 x 66 = 4356, it is not hard to multiply it out with a calculator.

So, as already mentioned, for 6 acres in square feet: 43,560 x 6 = 261,360 sqft.

(or 60% of 660 x 660).

An acre is 43560 sq ft regardless of the shape That us the surveyed dimensions so changes in elevation could possible result in more surface area if you laid a tape measure on the ground and went up and down wih it. A typical acre is cut approx 132 by 330. And a typical 5 acre tract is usually about 330 by 660 But they aren't always shaped like that 6 acres would be 261360 sqft
