$8K homebuyer tax credit and when I can sell

Profile picture for Tap012
Just wanted to confirm.I bought a house and closed escrow on it at the end of February 2009. I received the $8K homebuyer tax credit. If I sell my house and close escrow on it sometime after that, around March 2012, then I WILL NOT have to pay it back. Is that correct?

Right 3 years. So even if I list my house for sale now, as long as I close escrow after 3 years which is after end of Feb 2012, then I'm ok.

You should ask your tax accountant to be sure. The last thing you want is an unexpected tax burden for 2012.
