It may help some home sellers (although I do believe the general population may be catching on a tad). It does little help the buyer unless they were already buying. The (up to) 8k should not be the deciding factor, and if it is there is probably a good chance that the buyer is not in a good position to buy.

Ron Scott, how could you make such a dumb remark right after I explained how it's a bad thing and hurts buyers?  God you agents are so unapologetically self-serving it's sick.

"Anything in this economy to help someone purchase a home is a good thing."

I cannot believe you just said that. Are you stupid, or just incredibly selfish and short-sighted? Have the last 3 years taught you nothing?

Why wouldn't it help the buyer. Anything in this economy to help someone purchase a home is a good thing.

No it has NOT helped buyers, and here's why.  You start bribing people to buy homes and it drives up demand.  Increased demand leads to increased prices.  I've seen the prices in my neighborhood jump up over $30k in the past year, starting right when the credit was offered.  They are paying a $30k premium so they can steal $8k from taxpayers.  How is this a good thing for anybody except sellers and RE agents???

The only people it's helped are the agents, whose commission stream has been artificially boosted at the expense of taxpayers and buyers duped into believing the credit is a benefit.

It's helped a couple of my buyers. I think it's a great thing.

Yes, of course.  Obvious isn't it.  Who wouldn't be helped by $8,000?
