Aerial Map is Incorrect

Your map is wrong and has my home situated in the wrong neighborhood which effects your zestimate. It does not even come close to the value of my home. Apparently you have this problem in other parts of the country too. If you are not going to correct it, you should not post it as it is not a tool but a lie!

Hello selmadt -

We receive image data from different providers. We place these layers of data on top of each other to create our maps and sometimes the houses or even the entire neighborhood doesn’t appear in their exact correct location on the map.

The issue about incorrect location of homes does not affect Zestimate values of homes at all. We don't use or include the map to calculate the Zestimate value of a home. In addition, we have different and separate providers for our maps and home facts.

Regarding the location of homes on the map, please read this thread -
http://www.zillow.com/forum/site/ViewThread.htm?tid=343
or please take a look at this post on the Zillow blog - http://www.zillowblog.com/zillow_blog/2006/12/of_points_and_p.html

As to the value of your home, the Zestimate is just a starting point in figuring out the true value of a house. For one thing, the amount of data we have affects the Zestimate accuracy. If the information we have about your home, which comes from the county/public records, is outdated, incomplete or wrong, then, it would affect the Zestimate for sure. In the meantime, you may use the My Estimator tool to create your own estimate. If you are estimating your own house, you can even make your estimate public, which is extremely valuable if you're posting your home for sale. This is our way of letting individuals create estimates that take into account additions and upgrades that are not taken into account with the public records.
