I sold my house 3/30/06(closing date). Am I a first time buyer for the $8000 credit if I buy a house and close 3/31/09?

Additionally you will have til December 01 2009 to take advantage of the tax credit. So if you close on a home anytime within that window between 3/31 and 11/30 you qualify, assuming you meet income guidelines. The great news is if you die, you don't have to pay the money back ;-)

Yes - IF you are buying a primary residence, haven't owned any other homes in between, and don't have a spouse who owned a home.

You also can't sell it within 3 years (or you'll have to pay it back), you can't buy it from a relative, and you must be a US Citizen.
