another nice thing about droid.

you get better future proofing as carriers are motivated by contracts, whereas apple is motivated by hardware sales.

I switched to Android about 9 months ago.  This article starts with the same premise, but apparently there must be more to it than getting lucky on the 1st, looks like iPhone users are the big . . .

I just recently got an Android. Paradoxically, I'm currently unwilling to download any new apps. Every time I try, the app wants rights to do things that are way out of bounds for what the app should need. I've read up on this, and determined that the underlying reason is the way the Android services are set up for app developers.

Until they get the services shredded to a finer granularity, I doubt I'll download any apps. However, the phone itself is great, and the pre-loaded apps let me do what I need to do n the www.

Playing around with ideas for developing my own Android app. Strangely, the "useful" stuff is less likely to get used than the "useless...but fun".

I use and Iphone and cannot imagine a better phone.

you mean a phone that:

Has a removable battery or replaceable storage
Can function as a WiFi hotspot if your internet goes out (or in the car)
can function on sites like youtube natively
has a file system so that you can use it like a thumb drive and a phone
has a superior voice recognition system
uses a standard charging cable and not a stupid 30 pin adapter
has multiple customizable screens and widgets so that you don't need to find and launch apps in a massive list
has most of the same apps for less because apple charges a fee to the developer
allows for people to buy the phone with the features they want
allows competition in the handset market
has a bigger/wider/thiner screen if you want
is available on all four main carriers(and many minor ones) so that you don't have to deal with companies like ATT

why, yes. that is hard to imagine.
