Anyone know how to change the status of a home so that it's no longer for sale?

I recently bought a home and claimed it on zillow.com. However, this home still has a "for sale" status from the previous listing agent, I assume, and i can't get this changed. I contacted the previous realtor about getting this changed but he said that he didn't have access to edit that. Is there any way that i can take my home off the market?

The agent needs to remove your home from the listing feed that s/he used. They are not telling you the whole truth when they say that they can't do that. Zillow has a video here about removing your home for sale that might help. You should contact the local agent again and give them a timeline for removing it from the feed 3-4 days is reasonable. It is the agents responsibility to do that.

Zillow can also help you get the posting taken down. You can flag the house with the small gray flag in the ownership section of the main house page to tell Zillow that the house is no longer for sale. You should be able to enjoy your home and get the posting removed. Hope the info helps.

You can expect to see this for many many months to come.  If the listing agent doesn't clean out oaal the internet marketing on this property, than Zillow's computers will continue to pick up the info.  Depending on the state, the listing agent is probably breaking the law.  contact them and tell them to clean up thier act or you will make a formal complaint to your's state's authorities.  That will get their attention!
