I would hope so.

Wall-to-wall carpeting is expensive and needs to be replaced more frequently than wood floors.

Carpeting also harbors odors and mold. And isn't particularly compatible with either kids or pets.

I don't think they ever went out of style, at least not in the Pacific Northwest anyway. :)  It appears that reclaimed wood floors are becoming more popular, and we're seeing darker floors, along with darker cabinets, in new construction.  The old shiny gold style hardwood floor is out.
