My daughter will start medical school in August. She is marrying a first-year med school student in May. Are there special mortgages for medical school students in the Tulsa area?

Bought at age 36 actually. Talk about delayed gratification. Now at 41 I am down to 30,000 in student loans.

As a former medical student I would tell them to RENT!!! He/she have 4 years of med school ahead of them that pays nothing. Then they can look forward to a 3 yr or more residency that will likely not be in the same town his med school training is. Then they will likely finish residency and be in yet another town for their first jobs. All of these moves will also involve changes in pay. I rented and then used base housing from med school to residency to my military payback. Only when I finished those obligations did I buy my first house at age 31.

Two med students getting married can be very very tough. They will spend the next 10 years or more seeing each other very rarely. They may also not be able to get residencies in the same city. They will both need to be very understanding individuals to make things work.
