You've had two waves of historic preservation that I can think of.

One was during the dark days of the 1970s, when Grand Central Station was being threatened, and people figured out that the past wouldn't be around forever without intervention. Recently, the wave has been for the already super-comfortable to use "historic preservation" as an excuse for NIMBY-ism; "that 1904 townhouse may not look like much, but it's right outside my window!"

Now that some money is pouring into the area, those buildings look pretty ripe, don't they! I hope you guys can save them, because you can build anywhere, but you can't replace buildings like those.
