If you "live it", then neither you nor the industry are "dead".
The mortgage industry will not disappear from over regulation. It may become nationalized, but it appears that has essentially already occurred since over 95% of mortgages are either government mortgages or government insured. But that is quite different than a "dead" (non-existent) industry.
