you may put the buyer at huge risk if you want to delay the closing. They may have a rate that expires or it might take longer for the bank to prepare the documents. If you do want to extend it i suggest you get an extension in writing by all parties.
Congrats on finding a buyer - most aren't. Be thankful and pay the utility bill and close.

This is a tough market. I would not recommend jeopardizing your closing over a utility bill. As mentioned below, this could cause the buyer to lose his financing. It could also give the buyer a reason to walk away. Or sue you for performance. <shudder>

depending on how the offer was accepted from the buyer if you are delaying the closing...you could have to pay per diem

this is as bad as a buyer get all hung up over some personal property issue when the home purchse is the big issue... pay 'your' utility bill and stop crying... why is it that seller think their agent should pay for their

I've never heard of an agent taking care of utility bills. Did you have this agreement in writing? I'd simply pay the bill because it is far less expensive than delaying the closing.

Delaying the closing might be expensive. Pay the utility bill and then make him pay it after escrow closes.

You would delay selling your house over a utility bill? The delay could put you at risk with the buyers. Is your agreement with him to take care of issues in writing? If you're getting the wrong answers or no answers have you spoken with his broker?
