Property office posted transfers and sales together, This was a transfer of dual ownership of minority interests from a second party to single ownership by the majority party. Zillow posted it as a sale. The property was worth much more than the sale price posted, but now prospective buyers are led to believe that it once sold for a price less than half its value at the time. It is almost shockingly easy to check the assessor's websites in most areas of the country.
I'm puzzled how a sale price more than 23 years ago would cause problems with selling today even if it were recorded incorrectly.

Not very nice and pretty huffy for an owner with a recorded sale for $60,700 on 1/1/1998 in Sarasota County here. Don't believe it? Look it up for yourself here.
Zillow will not change any public information like a past sale unless they can verify it. Right now your local assessor matches Zillow's info. If your assessor is wrong and you get them to update, then I am sure Zillow would take another look.
