You could technically do that, but whoever took the 2nd would get a significantly higher rate, as they would be in 2nd lien position.
That is the funniest thing I read all day! Maybe you can put a piece of tape down the middle of the place to ensure that you don't co-mingle the assets just in case one of you defaults.
I can just see the listing now, "Short sale on left half of apartment, includes kitchen but not the bedroom with 1/4 bath. Partial views of the city can be full view if friendly with owner of the other half."
