Backyard re-doing grass area

Looking to re-do the grass in my backyard,the area mind you is not that large of an area,i would say

Bag of grass seed, picked up at your local hardware store and while you're at it if you have a lot to sow ... pick you up a bail of hay or straw to lightly
spead over the seeds to keep them in place and the birds out. The straw will disappear after the grass starts coming up.
