It's different for every county. I don't even know where to find that info in Canada. If you're looking in the US, try the count courthouse for the city you're looking in. You'll need all cash of course.

You can try your best to find same through bank's websites, but with today's economical circumstances the calls for property are overwhelming therefore, most properties that are bank owned are handed to RE agent that specialize in same. I personally won't even touch them since it is the responsibly of the agent/agency to maintain the property, which ultimates net in a loss of income.

As for auctions, they are by county and be advised that you are up again the PROS who this sort of thing for a living and come with cash in hand, so frankly, it is not as easy as it appears . . . or as late night TV makes it appear.

Good luck in our search.

In my state, bank owned properties, when for sale, are usually listed with a licensed real estate agent.  Property auctions can be found in local newspapers and on county websites.  In Ohio the county sheriff's website has the list of properties for sale.  But keep in mind that you may be bidding against the bank that held the mortgage note.
