Basement window well anchoring

I have been told it is a bad idea to actually anchor your window well to the foundation wall due to settling, etc. (same reason as floating basement walls)  Is there truth to this?  If so how do you attach it?  The home is about 5 years old, clay soils.

Doesn't make any sense to me.  Except that it can pose a small problem anchoring in concrete for the inexperienced.  After five years I would expect any major construction settling to have occured.  The well wouldn't be damaged by a 1/2in change this way or that and if your house moves that much or more you are going to have bigger things to worry about than a bent $30.00 sheet of galvanized metal.
To anchor it use a hammer drill and some screw concrete fasteners.
