Most agents are transaction brokers, which means they represent the transaction, not the buyer or seller. Working with the listing agent is fine as long as they are a transaction broker and you are both clear on this. You are not going to get a better deal by working with the listing agent, so it never hurts you to have your own agent who you trust to look out for your best interest. Either way, it depends on whether or not you feel comfortable with the agent you are working with.
