Love, love, love Ballard's Farmers' Market! It's open year round in the old part of Ballard on Sundays. There are lots of fruits, veggies, grass-fed meat, eggs, fish, cheese and bakery items like pies, scones and cookies! YUM! Handmade soaps and other crafts are there plus street musicians. Many of the shops are open too. I haven't been there lately but I used to always get a crepe which were fabulous with choices of cheese, ham, veggie or fruit.

I know you guys on the West Cost have some great fruit and fish, but here in the Midwest Sweet Corn is rockin the market! You need only to drive about 2 miles or less in any direction from noon to 5pm and you will see someone with a wagon and corn. They have them at the Farmers market too but the kids at the wagons are so fun to wheel and deal with :)

There's something wonderful about Bellingham's Saturday market. Everyone seems happy to just be there and no surprise, what with the excellent selection of organic, local produce and creative artwork. My favorite thing is the pedal your own smoothie, beverages you power from the seat of bicycle.

The Studio City farmer's market every Sunday morning is amazing. Packed full of great stuff and shoulder to shoulder with energy. A great way to spend a Sunday morning.

Bainbridge Island has a great Farmer's Market Saturday mornings from 9am to noon, April through October. Great produce, fresh flowers, artisanal bread, cheese from a local goat farm, hand-made jewelry, clothing, and blown glass. There is always live music, people brings their dogs, and their are usually chickens or other local farm animals as an attraction for kids. It's a great way to start the weekend!

The West Seattle farmers market right in the Junction is wonderful. It is smaller than some, but always worth a trip.

Though I haven't been to many, I like the Bellevue farmers market, which used to be at the old Safeway downtown, though I think they moved. Loved that they had a truck that made fresh brick fired pizzas. But recently I have been enjoying the Burien farmers market. It is on Thursdays at the Town Square. They have good produce and flowers, it is fairly small but nice.

The Columbia City Farmer's Market was recently ranked the #1 farmer's market.
Yesterday, a national pizza authority ranked Tutta Bella as the #1 Neopolitan Pizza (authentic pizza) in the U.S. Tutta Bella opened their flagship store in Columbia City in 2001, and they've since expanded.
I should probably add that the New York Times Travel Section recommends that travelers vising Seattle should make a point of visiting Columbia City!

Here's that article Ray referred to on Columbia City having one of the Top 10 Farmers Markets in the country. http://www.cnn.com/2010/TRAVEL/07/22/best.farmers.markets/index.html
Also a cool article about Tutta Bella from food critic Nancy Leeson. They are offering a free pizza to each table this week to celebrate.

Bainbridge Island has a great one on Saturdays, but Port Gamble also has a fun one on Sundays in their quaint, historic little town.

Here in the South Mountain area of Phoenix, we are looking forward to the grand opening soon of Grandma's Farm on South 19th Avenue between Baseline and Dobbins Roads. They currently have a small farmers market open while they finish construction on Grandma and Grandpa's new farm house, the barn, and the farm store.

You can't beat downtown Monterey, California Farmer's Market! It is open yearround! It offers everything from fresh breads, local honey, lucious produce, and even greek salad--my favorite. All while you stroll the entire downtown--oldtown and meet all the locals and some not so locals. I love it and try to go every week.
