El Cholo 1121 S Western near Olympic is the granddaddy of great LA Mexican food and there should still be time to get their seasonal green corn tamales.
In truth most Mexican food in LA is good. My personal favorite is a tiny place in Gardena, La Villa. They have the best carnitas! It is at 15333 Crenshaw Blvd. just north of El Camino College. Most of the El Terasco restaurants in the South Bay beach cities also serve quite good traditional food. Baja Fresh is also a good chain with a little lighter feel to the fare.

Don Cuco in Burbank close to Toluca Lake. Excellent fajitas and margaritas. To be honest if the margaritas are good then isn't all food that follows excellent?

I'd take a drive to Orange County and try Moreno's Restaraunt. They have a big following in OC due to its great food, reasonable prices, and oversized outdoor patio area.

Actually, I prefer Californianised versions of Mexican food, which really isn't "Mexican" food anymore, even though California was stolen from Mexico.
Ernie Jr's that used to be in Pasadena but is now in Eagle Rock is a good choice, but I haven't been there in decades.
I like El Pollo Loco, especially their version of Spanish rice, but the price is a bit high.
Cabrera's at 655 N. Lake Avenue, Pasadena has a very nice "all you can eat" lunch buffet weekdays at a very reasonable price.

And many still claim that Mijares at 145 Palmetto Dr (at Pasadena Ave) in Pasadena is the place to go; and I do like their food there, but I don't like their prices and I don't like their parking configuration, and I don't like how crowded it is. But it still has a very good track record.

HAHAHA I have no idea what you are talking about nicefind. JK is a joke so everyone laughs and he's definitely not an agent so what are you talking about?

Well, as most of the responses were mentioning locations in Los Angeles County that are not in Los Angeles City; I assumed that the original poster meant Los Angeles County; but of course one agent posts an Orange County location, stating that it is just a short drive and that it is worth it. (Which really means that it is worth it for the Long Beach agent to drive to Pasadena for lunch... and might as well buy or sell property in Pasadena too since it doesn't have all those major negative impacts from the port...)
But as far as the user, JK; there are 316 registered users on Zillow in the directory with the name "JK", which stands for "just kidding"; and NONE of them are "agents".
Yes, I agree that there has been way too many agents bashing the consumers trying to make sure that the only people allowed to buy or sell a house from an agent are other agents. Which is why the FSBO have become so popular as we are really tired of all those agents bashing normal people.

El Cholo is really good, but for me I like something a little more low-key. Try Tito's Tacos on Washington Blvd., (near the 405) in Culver City. It's sort of a dive, but GREAT food and low price.

Oh heck don't worry about the occasional typo. I know I never do, but I still hear Mavis Beacon yelling in the background. lol
And thanks for the tip for Tito's EllieF!
