Best family neighborhoods in Naperville?

We're relocating to Naperville and are looking for advice on neighborhoods.  Our price range is $600K-$800K and we're looking for neighborhoods with lots of kids, good schools and friendly neighbors.  We'd like a neighborhood where the neighbors interact and have community bbqs, etc.  We're also trying to avoid a "keep up with the Joneses" type neighborhood.

Thanks!!

There are a lot of great neighborhoods in Naperville. We live (and are selling our 800k house in White Eagle Country Club.  Tall Grass is a nice neighborhood and Stillwater is nice as well.  We picked White Eagle because of the wider streets, a tree in front of every home (you won't believe the difference this makes!) a great clubhouse with sand play area and zero depth pools with slide.  Tall Grass has nice homes, but most have the typical suburban look and feel that you get not to mention the view out your back window.  We chose a golf course view because it provides the serenity we were looking for when sitting on our deck.  All Indian Praire 204 schools are good.  Our kids loved White Eagle Elementary, walked to school all are - very Norman Rockwellish if you ask me.

If you are still looking to relocate and have any other questions, please let me know.  We are now moving to Nashville so we have to leave our favorite house - but we have learned a lot in one year and would be happy to provide the guidance you may be seeking - or at least one person's opinion.

Buttonwood is a great neighborhood. Homes are $400k plus. You won't find better schools in the area. If you like mature trees and a friendly neighborhood with lots of kids, but no snobs then this is the place. The homes are in the 18 to 23 + age, and are NOT cookie cutter as most subdivisions are. Its also within a mile of Downtown Naperville, the Riverwalk, 1/4 mile of the garden plots, 1/4 mile of the ribfest location each year, within 1 mile of the Centennial beach and pool, close to ALL shopping without having to travel on the absolutely HORRENDOUS Route 59 (advise do not live south of Ogden on anywhere off of I 59 if you have to travel on i 88 for a commute.)  From Buttonwood, You can get to I-88 within 10-13 minutes during rush hour or I-355, or I-55 south.

Its doubtfull the home values here will ever decrease more than 10% in any given year. The location is just too superior for everything you ever need.  Plus you could get rid of your car if you desired with train station not far and only a PACE ride away.  You can easily retire here if you want also.  Property taxes are not wicked like other neighborhoods south of here either in the rest of Naperville. You might however have a hard time finding anyone selling a home.

Good luck in your search.

Mocha. Naperville is such a nice town, it is going to be hard to really go wrong. Schools are awsome and so are people.

Virtually everyone loves Naperville due to location, a very nice and easily accessible downtown with a small town feel, nice people, and a range of homes and pricing to appeal to first time home buyers, large families, uupscale new homes, and empty nester condos and townhouses.

We just moved to the Century Farms subdivision and really like it.  Homes average around 600k.  Location is awesome.  Within 2 miles are: high school, middle school, jr high, elementary school, access to 88, the metra, our church and tons of parks.  Target is a .5 mile walk (which is a bit dangerous).  And downtown is a  little more than 2 miles away, which is great.

It is in the 203 school district, which I hear is the best.  But I don't think you can go too wrong with any schools in Naperville.

So far I've found the whole town itself to be family friendly.  I'm amazed at all the of the programs the Parks and Rec department offers.

Good luck!

I have lived in Naperville most of my life. I grew up in the Harmony Grove/Tamarack neighborhoods. The homes are in the 15-25 yr range and a lot of them have been updated in the past few years. The neighbors are great and there are a wide variety of children across all age ranges. The prices now are still far off from the highs of 2005-06, but are definitely stabilized and even increasing. District 204 schools are great, but as many have said before you really cannot go wrong with either district. Location wise you can get to 355/55/88 all within a reasonable amount of time, even though traffic is a concern. Downtown is great with the river walk, restaurants and various fest's during the summer and is very family friendly throughout the year.

If you need any other information, feel free to contact me. Good Luck in your search!
