I like this chart because it shows that the market has corrected back to where homes are affordable in our area again to the average family.

In 2005, lot prices were about $35 - $45K and then things started going crazy.  Lot prices kept increasing to where a standard lot jumped to nearly $125K in 2007.  Development land went from $25K an acre in 2000 to $150k an acre in 2006-2007 based on new lot pricing.

Now with new construction dormant, banks are foreclosing on many projects and the lots are being sold in bulk at less than the development costs sometimes!  Therefore, it is a great time to buy since lots can not be replaced again for the distressed sale price that some are selling for.
