Can a landlord request we do not eat meat in the house?

It was in our lease that we cannot eat meat.  Is that legal?  I am just wondering?

That's a tricky question.   With the fair housing act, landlords can't discriminate against race, color, sec, religion (and in some states sexual orientation).   I don't see meat eating mentioned.    One can certainly ban smoking in rental units.  Have you signed it yet?

What I'd do is pull up your state's landlord/tenant laws, find the hot line number and ask the question, or ring an attorney.
