Can i rent my basement out... if so what are the requirement to make it legal?

it has a living room area, to small bedrooms with closets and a full bath/ stand up shower... all the utilities were ripped out and the gas line was capped off because it serves as our childrens play space now... but we could easily replace the cabinets and fridge and put an electric range in, so if the answer is yes we'd also like to know what that could rent out for.

Check your local  town codes--generally basements apartments are illegal--
