According to the Texas Department of Housing & Community Affairs at this link there is about $34,000,000 remaining for a first time homebuyer down payment & closing cost assistance up to 4% of the mortgage amount, and even more funding available for the Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) program (reduces your tax liability via a tax credit) - I'd recommend you get with a loan officer in Texas to go over your eligibility or you can find that information along with a lot more at that link.

Yes you can! There are several Grant programs out there right now that can help with the downpayment. You have to get with a lender that know how to put them together. If you would like a referral to a lender that specializes in these programs I will be happy to provide you the information.
