lol Generalizing? You mean like calling someone with a name "the other guy?"

Hey - Reach out to me.  I work with lease to own buyers every once in awhile.  The last 2  both had normal rents, one was even less than market rent.  I work with lots of investors who are willing to lease to own, or even better yet, they will owner finance the deal, and you may never have to worry about a bank.  Wetdawgs is generalizing and the other guy is too.  I can help if you contact me.

As usual, Dawgs is spot on. Lease purchase options are a loser play for a buyer; you will overpay, have to come up with a significant non refundable down payment and pay higher than normal "rent". The seller wins and the buyer loses.

If you want to buy, get any credit issues fixed and save your money. Rent until you can buy conventionally.

Lease to own homes are so rare that chances are good there are none available in your community.

Rent to own requires:

A down payment of 10 to 30%.  This will not be refunded if you cannot get funding at the agreed upon time and price.

The monthly rent is higher than fair market rent, only the difference goes to purchase.

It is a great way to lose a huge amount of money.

Why not identify why you can't buy today and put together an action plan so you are eligible.   That will put you in a position to have a selection of homes that meet your needs rather than perhaps one that isn't really what you wanted but  is available for "lease to own".
