Can the new owner demand me to move out without notice?

The landlord of my home i rent sold the house while i was at my brothers funeral in california. I reside in missouri. I recieved a call that my home was sold while i was away as i returned home the new owners of my home were demanding me to move out right then and there I have three small children and no mo0ney till the first of the month. What are my rights as a renter in the home. dont they have to notify me at least a thirty day notice or something?

That certainly is NOT the case in many States.  Why is an Agent in Texas giving legal advice about laws in a State they don't live in and don't know?

By the way, not all lease agreements go with the property, but are often between the owner and the tenant only.  As for "buying the house subject to any current leases", one would have to check the actual contract and relevant State and Local laws.

It appears to me that a couple Real Estate agents dropped the ball?  Escrow is typically at least 30 days; and if it was clear that the new owners were financing as "owner occupied", then notice should have been given at the time the offer was accepted and escrow opened.

Perhaps notice was given and was just not seen?

Where are the new owners supposed to live since they bought with the understanding that the property would be theirs to occupy as soon as escrow closes?  And how did escrow close considering there should have been a final walk and approval of the property condition before escrow closed?

Perhaps the new owner should sue both Brokers and Real Estate Agents?  $5k each in small claims court for a total of $20k damages these agents caused to the new owner?

Please seek the advice of an attorney in your area or from MO legal aid; You cannot be evicted without proper notice if you are a Tenant; They cannot change the locks and they cannot access your unit without notice unless for specific emergencies;

The new owner by law, is buying the house subject to any current leases. So, NO, they cannot demand of you to vacate the house.  They have 2 options:
1.-  Respect the contract, and at the end of the contract they have to give 30 day notice of non-renewal.
2.-  If they do not want to wait out YOUR lease contract, they have to give 3 months of free rent, so you can save deposit, moving expenses, first month's rent, etc. etc.

Either way, you have rights.  You may call the City where you live, and they can give contact numbers for organizations that will help you legally.


Now, if you are on month to month lease, then they still have to give you 30 day notice to vacate.
