Correct... bottom line is call your MLS contact at each board to find out their specific rules. Our local boards are free for RETS feeds only because the boards here have an agreement with each other. Other boards may not. Start with your own board first then build on that as you can. If not it still gets people to your website to start searching and a lead hopefully.

Dale Palmer is correct; however, not all RETS feeds are free. That is up to each board. The only way to effectively pull multiple counties is to have a developer build your own RETS feed. I have one. I can get RETS information from any county. I have not expanded to every county because many boards have requirements. Some require a $30 charge for their RETS information, some require you be a member of the board, and some are free (as is the case with most FAR feeds).

Ted, I have have 2 MLS's on my website and only a member of one. I use IDXBroker as my vendor. They can load a RETS feed too so you don't have to join the board. You do have to sign an agreement with each board and they have to approve the feed. There is not a charge from the board if you use their RETS feed but there is another monthly charge for which ever vender you choose, in my case IDXBroker. I'm a member of the fort Lauderdale board and have our data and palm beach counties board loading as well. I'm also going to start Miami board on my site soon. It is possible , but there is a cost. Right now I pay about $60 a month I believe for both feeds, it will probably be closer to. $100 per month once I start Miami. Hope this helps. Also the vender usually takes care of all the approval process paper work with the boards. You just need to tell them which ones, at least mine did.

You can not get multiple MLS's data on a single IDX application. It is possible but highly unlikely. If you are using a IDX vendor that happens to have an MLS feed in every county you want, and have the ability to put all the info in one IDX feed, then it could work.
This is NOT cost effective anyways. You would pay $30 per mls feed because you have to be on that board. You would also pay the IDX fee per board.
You want a RETS feed. Every Realtor is entitled a RETS feed. You need to higher a private php/mysql developer to build a web application that can database the mls from several counties (or all) and then populate a dynamic page. It would cost over 15,000 (easily) for a single MLS. Adding additional MLS would be very inexpensive. You would not have to pay ANY MLS/IDX fees per month though!

No. Companies like Zillow, Trulia, and many web creators acquire the lists from most MLS boards and then publish them. I've been told that this is not called IDX but is basicly the same. I'm looking for someone who will provide the same info to me for my web page like you put on yours. I've heard talk about it but haven't found it yet. Thanks.

Ted - Every MLS has to have an agreement with the IDX provider. If you are a member of multiple MLS's, each one would require a separate agreement be completed.
Are you a member of multiple MLS's?

Can you get more listings through IDX than just your local MLS on the new Agent website?
