Can you give me advice on how to renegotiate our real estate assessment on our home?

We recently refinanced and our home was appraised at $140,000.  Our latest real estate assessment was listed at $187,000.  5 years ago it was $219,000.

Typically you can appeal only in odd years and the deadline for appeal is usually in July in your area;  But check with St Charles County assessor to see if you are eligible this year .  Typically you need to provide comp information and an appraisal may be of some help.. along with pictures of deferred maint of your home if any..

You can successfully win an appeal. I would use your appraisal, get the process from your local assessor and look at these tips here about how to appeal your assessment. I successfully won several appeals so the info might help you too.
