Can you look for houses based on a rating of the schools?

i can look up the schools on your site and see ones with good ratings.  How can I look at the houses that are in a specific school district?  If want a school with a rating of 8 or better, how can I find houses near those schools?

You just need to get on HAR and you will be able to search for homes in a specific school district.

Working with a good, experienced Buyer's Agent in that community is the best way to start.  He or She will be able to show you homes within your chosen school district and in your price range.

The best thing to do is research the schools in the area you are interested in, via third party search and reviews. Once you have a few schools you are happy with, your Realtor can search for homes zoned only to those schools!

Be careful with those grades, they are not always the most accurate. In fact the school where I have a property for sale is shown as a 2, but it is a B school in the A-F scale used in our area. Go to the local School System and review the grades of the schools in the area to be sure.

Best of luck to you,
Liz

The process usually works like this
1. You identify the schools you are interested in by analyzing the online ratings from a third party advisor.  Could be Great Schools or whatever criteria you personally designate
2. I recommend that buyers then go visit the schools that make the cut.  Could be more than one of them. Talk to the staff and get a feel for the school.
3. Tell your Realtor which schools you are considering and have them set up a "search" in the MLS that will email listings to you that fall in the school boundaries.
4. You pick out the houses that appeal to you and then go see them with your Realtor.

Are you working with a Realtor? He/she can set you up to receive automatic daily searches based on your school criteria.
