If you already have accounts with Chase, then go with them for your convenience. Plus it will make it easier to get a home equity line of credit later (from Chase) should you want one, if you already have a satisfactory account history with them.

if rates and terms are about the same, then compare the customer service. Which has a branch where you can go stand in front of a human when there is a problem that you can't resolve by phone or email. hopefully you'll never have such a problem but it is good to be able to go the old fashioned route and park yourself outside their door until you are heard if such an event is ever requried.

Based on my experience, I'd say neither. I have had good customer service luck with Wells Fargo. Chase and B of A have both been pretty spotty. Shop around. I think you can get a better rate from a different lender with better customer service.

Neither...neither company has shown to be accommodating to the american consumer during the housing crisis. If you want to stick with the bigger banks, look for Wells Fargo or US Bank. Better yet, work with a local mortgage broker. Chances are, your loan will still end up with a big bank, but at least you'll be dealing with someone who's knowledgeable and accountable to you locally. Can't really say that when you deal with a big bank directly.

Chase or Bank of America Mortgage?
