Zillow is really bad at releaseing a listing to a new owner, it takes months.
We have been trying for 9 months to get ours changed, it still shows as a for sale listing.
Not my experience. You must have done something wrong. Zillow released ownership on my listing in one day.
But that wasnt the question, the 9 month old post asked about updated Zestimates after increasing square footage, not ownership. I believe Sunnyview answered the question accurately.

@wrready: If your house still shows for sale and it isn't, it is probably because an agent has an active data feed and hasn't removed it. While Zillow can manually change a property so it isn't for sale, as long as the agent maintains the data feed it will over write the status in Zillow and make it show "for sale" again.
Therefore, open your home details page, scroll to the very bottom and click on the blue "listing website". This will take you to the source of the problem. Contact the agent and ask him/her to remove the listing feed. Focus on the feed, not Zillow, for best success.

If you just claimed your house and edited the home facts, it takes time for the new information to work into the larger numbers. Not all changes affect your Zestimate, but typically bed/bath count, square footage etc. do. The changes that you make show up on your home page right way, but from what I read from Zillow, it can take up to 6-8 weeks for the changes that you make in your home facts to be fully reflected in your Zestimate.
If you are planning to sell soon, you might also consider adding an owner's estimate to show additional value for features/remodels that Zillow does not have listed. You can also upload a photo of your choice to your home page to replace the generic google photo. Hope the info helps.
