Nick is correct. It is all up the the underwriter. Because of this, you want to make sure that you are using somebody local.

There really is no ''official rule'' when it comes to allowable commuting disctance that is acceptable with VA loans.  It comes down to 'underwriter discretion' and whether they deem it to be reasonable and/or customary for the area. So if you are dealing with a lender who is not familiar with the front range this may be why you are experiencing issues. CO lenders would know that a person living in the Springs and commuting to Denver (for example) for work is fairly common practice and done by alot of people every day.  We do alot of VA loans in the Colorado Springs area and would be happy to give you a second opinion if you would like to send me a message we can take a look at the situation right away..
