Composite vs. PT Wood decking

I am replacing a deck and would like to use composite material, but I have two dogs that pee on the deck in the winter. Cleaning the wood every year is easy. Will dog pee make composite smell in warm weather?

Wood = natural and eventually breaks down to dirt

Composite = sits as a composite forever...

I personally think it's a no brainer.

No.  Dog pee will not make it smell in warm weather.  Because you stated quite clearly that the dogs only pee on the deck in the winter.

Never heard of Azek, thou I imagine it's as good as Trex.  I used Trex on many projects, slippery when wet. Pee on a surface, is pee on a surface.  Cost will be a big factor, when you go with a composite material.  Thou it'll last forever and it is the same color all the way through.  I love redwood and a good sealer.  Good luck.

Azek composite decking is 90% PVC. will not take on moisture or stain. I have been installing for many years without complaint. Before the product was named Pro Cell,or Duration Decking. Azek decking will not scratch and is color fast. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Dog pee on a product like Trex will smell no more than dog pee on wood.
