It only takes a small deposit in most cases to become a member and almost every county in California has a credit union that locals can join: not so much like the old days when you had to be a member of a certain group to become a member. Call your local credit union today to see the benefits!

This is a common misconception; especially in California.  I compete with no less than 8 credit unions, in San Diego,  and find that mortgage brokers smoke their rates/terms

This is a very misleading statement. First of all, not all credit unions have the best rates.  And service as we all know varies from loan officer to loan officer.

I work for a credit union and luckily, we have rates that compete with brokers and banks alike.

It's always encouraged to get quotes from different types of institutions to see who has the best rate.
