Corner lots BAD! No privacy from the street, more sidewalk to shovel or clean, can't build on the "extra land", most communities will not allow privacy fences on the sides. In my mind, never a good investment!

I was lucky to see the appraisal on one of my listings last week and it's on a corner lot. The appraiser gave it $1800 adjustment because it's a corner lot.
Seller and buyers are happy!

ok, just noticed that this is from a year ago.

I love my corner lot, but another bad thing is the fence: The nice side has to face outward and there's more linear feet (therefore costs more).

Daws points are very valid. You have to consider the amount of private space available to your corner lot. Some have more than others and the setbacks have a lot to do with how much you have to use. I discounted other corner lots for some of the reasons that Dawgs listed, but this house was a nice fit for me with the view out two sides. I think it is a personal preference and sort of a house to house decision for some like me.Â

Corner lots are great as long as they are not on busy streets!

Good side of corner lot in quiet neighborhoods is it have a lot of parking spaces for the parties,
and the lot size is usually bigger than neighbor lots.

This is a very personal decision. My personal bias is that I hate corner lots and won't even look at a house on a corner lot. The reason I hate them is many fold:
1. The usable private area tends to be much less.
2. There are two sides of the house and lot that are on view to others at all times.
3. Traffic tends to be higher.
4. People (and cars on occasion) cut across the yard.
Many people speak about having less neighbors and think that outweighs the negatives.

I like corner lots in quiet neighborhoods. My current house is on a corner. Personally, I like having fewer adjoining neighbors and a more open view out the windows. I also like the fact that it make the house more visible as a part of the neighborhood because it sits on a corner. However, you could not pay me to live on a busier corner lot on a neighborhood size street. The noise of people cornering around your house is annoying to me. I rented a house like this for a while and I was happy to leave. The only other thing I would consider when buying a corner lot is the amount of useable space on the lot. Many places have limits on fence height for corner houses or setbacks for structures like fences or sheds that would not apply to a regular interior lot. That is something to think about. If you can't use it, but have to mow it it may not be a good choice for some people.
