The houses are nice; large lots;plenty stores;not any different than altamante springs were I lived for 25 years. some people think it is alright to put there cars on the lawn. and old toilets out front at christmas. cut down trees and leave them out front for 3 months . till you call the city. but you get that any time there is no homeowners asc. all in all it is good. plenty nice decent people.

I've lived here for 12 years and love it. One thing to keep in mind; no matter where you are you can't change the way people act but you can be a good influence. 200K and you could have my house. I'm looking for something different.

No matter where you go people are going to have something negative to say. Keep in mind there are alot of people that don't know anything about Deltona because it's so wide spread. It hasn't been that long since people referred to where they lived by the 1st area, 3rd area etc. that tends to scare people. I've always loved Deltona, so much that we built a house here in '05. If we weren't moving out of state I wouldn't be selling my home..

Deltona is a growing community with a hometown feel, lots of park and recreation for kids, newer schools, and the commercial areas in four towns is growing by metes and bounds. There is'nt anything you can't purchase here. And you get a lot of value in a home compared to Orlando. Without the heavy traffic... yet your within an hour of all the "worlds" Disney, sea world etc. Compare and you will agree Deltona has a lot to offer buyers.....

They are ignorant??? I dunno, I built on a lot that I bought sight-unseen, waaaaay back,&have experienced the growth, both good & bad. The increase in traffic is, of course, a pain but it's pretty bad ALL over central fla....we usta call Deltona "Second Gear City" cause no one drove faster than 25 mph! I moved here from Longwood & would NOT move back
south...I'm still here enjoying the relative homogenous nature of Deltona...been fortunate to have some good neighbors who look out for each other AND I live on a cul-de-sac on a lake...some of my family lives in the neighborhood & also recently bought in DeLand...if I move I might consider DeLand! I love the trees! "Up & coming", you ask? I dunno if Deltona will compare with Orlando or Daytona, as hotspots, but I sure HOPE NOT!
mifairlady2008 said it well & I concur: "Deltona has a lot to offer buyers....."

I came here from Vermont to help out my sister as she had some serious health problems. The first thing I noticed is that there are houses on every street for sale or just abandoned. Some streets have more homes that are empty than have people living in them. This area was hit VERY hard by the downturn. Keeping that in mind I still think this is a great place to live and I am currently looking for some houses to flip and or buy-keep. The prices are (for the buyer) absoutly fantastic. If you are willing to do a little TLC you can find houses at half the appraised value easily.
It is a very clean town compared to other places I have lived. The city does not allow you to let your lawn grow out of control, you can't keep cars on your lawn, nor refrigerators, toilets or any trash for that matter. There are some areas of the city that are older but there really are no slums. As a matter of fact you can go down a street and the houses will range from older small boxes to 2000 sq.ft palaces and back again.
There really isn't a "downtown". There are several small centers with a publix and some small businesses but the closest thing to a downtown I guess would be Saxon Ave between I-4 and 17-92.
I have not found a car wash in the city (hint hint for someone). From what I have been told the area was kind of sleepy untill they made I-4 three lanes from Orlando right to Deltona. Once the road was here they came , and came and came!!
All in all I think it is an excellent place to live, the schools all seem to be fine and are rated ok. I would like to see a "city center" of some sort and I would like to see the city promote more activities for the residents. My biggest complaint is that whoever laid out the streets should be forced to drive them for the rest of his life non-stop! It is not uncomman to have two roads in different parts of the city with the same name. I would say that it rates right up there with Boston Mass or Montreal Que in the way the streets are laid out. If you havent had the pleasure of driving in either of those cities, be thankfull!!
Hope that is of some help.

Deltona Purchase
I am looking to purchase in Deltona and I'm currently renting here. I happen to like it here. Nice neighbors, stores and hospital not far. Why do people react when I mention I'm looking to purchase in Deltona? I moved here in August. What's the story? I work in Sanford and it's only 20 minutes away. Isn't Deltona "up and coming" since years ago? Wouldn't that be positive?
