Military personnel based upon certain criteria have far more time to apply and you should go to the IRS web site on the criteria and time frames.

If the house was under contract before April 30th, buyers are still eligible for tax credit as long as they close before September 30th.

I have not heard or read about a new federal tax credit on new homes, but it is possible that some states like CA here were offering tax credits of their own. A local agent could tell you if there is anything like that in your state.

$8000 Home Buyer Tax Credit and $6500 repeat Home Buyer Tax Credit is still available to Qualified* Members of the Military!
The tax credit was extended for military members who were deployed between December 31, 2008 and May 1, 2010.  The tax credit applies to binding sales contract in place on or before April 30, 2011 and closed by June 30, 2011.  (As always, check with your own tax advisor for verification.)
Let me know if I can be of assistance.

Yes it did expire however your state and city officials propably have there own tax incentative for 1st time buyers or down payment assistance programs. You may not get the $8,000 but you can put less down on a piece of property
