They are big on safety...no exposed wiriing, no water spots on the ceiling, has to have a cooking source and working heat...like AA said, not that picky in my opinion.

FHA just means more paperwork and often a little more time to close. I hear the same things all the time from agent inexperienced with FHA, VA, VHDA and all the others out there. I like them because these buyers are serious about owning a home.

Realtors really do seem to overstate this. Just what i've found.
Nice, jkonstant. Very true. Many hoops to jump through, and it really solidifies the deal. Makes the folks earn it a little more.

FHA inspections were very stringent in years past but now they are a bit easier.
Always use an appraiser that works with you and not against you.

I personally feel that it has been the safehaven for the subprime and A- loans been doing them for about 9 months now, and I have very good luck with them, yes, more documentation, but where else can you go and get the great rates.

jtabay- states usually have very competitive first-time homebuyer programs. Check with your housing division- that's always a great resource.

Do FHA inspections kill many deals?
I was just looking over requirements for FHA loans and I remember my agent stating that they could get kinda picky.
