You could be a FHB(see below) but there are no "first time home buyer tax credits or other *federal incentives that I'm aware of. if its a private incentive, then you should contact whoever is offering it.

Amy,
You will certainly want to connect with a Mortgage Professional to check out your options.
A First Time Home Buyer is defined as not having owned a property within the last 3 years. You mentioned 2009, so it sounds like it will be close and will depend on when your name was removed from your old home in 2009.
All the best and feel free to give us a call/email with any additional questions.

Your best bet is connecting with a mortgage officer. Was the previouse loan in both your names?

Are there special programs that you are interested in that require first time home buyer status? The Feds tax incentives are gone.

That's a great question. The lender you choose will be able to give you all your options and suggest your best fit once they know your financial situation. Visit our web site under the buyers tab for a list of great lenders who could help you know for sure. Then you will be ready to purchase a home as a pre qualified buyer.

I believe most definitions of first time homebuyer is "hasn't owned in the previous 3 years"
Do I qualify for as a first time home buyer?
