Do you get fraudulent ads for homes?

I looked into an ad for a rental at S Elizabeth St, Centennial, CO 80122.  After contacting the owner, I had some signals that this was not a legitimate rental.  Is there anyway to verify if a renter is not a scammer?  His english is poor, which is not the best way to judge someone, I know, but he wants money wired to England and won't give a local phone number to verify his ownership of the house.  Just a note to you folks really, I am out of it now.  Don't trust it.

Here's a link to Zillow's FAQ on internet fraud and scams.   The story you tell sounds like it is straight out of their FAQ.

Every internet site has a smattering of frauds in rentals.   Some areas it is very bad.
