Does Asbestos in the Drywall affect the re-sale value of a house?

I am looking to buy a home . I love it but it has asbestos. Does Asbestos in the Drywall affect the re-sale value of a house? Is there an effective solution other than full removal for dry wall ( ie: encapsulation?)

absestos that is encapsulated properly does not have to be removed and poses no health threat. It is only loose asbestos that can travel through the air and be inhaled that poses a problem. call a home inspector and determine the specifics of your problem

I have clients who love older homes and are willing to live with lead based paint and asbestos in the home, others won't.
In the '70's it was used in a lot of places including crayons (yes!), paints, adhesives, protective wear, metal ware and appliances. It was used for all kinds of things, filled spaces, kept heat in, cold out, made cement strong, was mixed with liquids, combined with paint... It started out in the 1800's and was considered a 'miracle product' per se. Mainly it was used in basements, attics, roofs .
Here is an epa link to give you some background on it. Its a personal choice to live with it. If you remove it, use a professional!!!!

Hardware containing Asbestos should  be replaced after purchasing the home, especially for health reasons.  As long as you remove all asbestos containing materials your re-sale value should not decrease and these repairs may actually increase the value of your home.
