Does a new manufactured home placed on a piece of land all ready owned by the buyer qualify for this

I own a piece of land that has been developed for placement of a manufactured home on it. There is no residence on it. I have never owned a home but do own this 3/4ths acre of land that I want to put a new manufactured home on.

Yes, as long as it is your primary residence. You may want to consider waiting until you can build a "non HUD Code" home. Check with a local Real Estate Agent and see how well the manufactured homes are holding their value in your area. You may lose the tax credit by making the choice of using a manufactured home product. At worst try to buy a "true modular" that is built to your State's building code. It should hold value better than a "double wide" or "single wide" HUD Code home.

Steve, I tell everyone that regardless what a lender or real estate agent might suggest to you the program is in fact an IRS tax program and you really need to ask your CPA to make sure you get the correct answer.

There's a ton of good information on the IRS's web site about the tax credit and I've included the link for you.

Good luck!
