Does anyone know of any off-beat or out of the ordinary home ownership fees? Imposed by city/state?

For instance, if you buy a new home in Seattle, Washington a Sewer Capacity Charge is charged bi-monthly. Many people are not aware of this fee until closing. Any other fees out there that are a bit odd and uncommon? They can be quirky, annoying, hidden etc...

You often find 'special assesment' taxes for areas that are working on improving infrastructure, sewer lines, etc.  Keep in touch with your settlement attorney as they are the ones that will be getting all of that information.  You can also contact your local tax office as those fees will have to be approved and they would have a record of that.
