Don't expect to get into your neighborhood school

Buyers be aware, there is a huge problem with the Lafayette school district in that you are often not guaranteed a spot at your neighborhood elementary school.  The school district often redirects children to other neighborhoods claiming they reserve the right to do so.  What happens is once a child is redirected to a desirable neighborhood, that child's siblings get preference in the enrollment process over new enrollments.  So new students in a preferred neighborhood gets displaced not only by the redirected child but also by their siblings.
