Good question. I really like a lot of Zillow's services - this one doesn't seem to make sense. They may generate traffic, but probably a lot of anomisity at the same time.

Hi Rob,
Zillow isn't out to sell your house; Just to get traffic to their website and provide users with a "zestimate" of what they think houses are worth. By sending you this email they get hits/visits due to the, "What Happened!?" factor.
The problem is their automated service doesn't compare apples to apples. To get an accurate estimate of what your house is worth, you need a real appraisal. So I wouldn't be too worried with the email you received from Zillow.
