Fannie Mae and mortgage co loan acquisition dates

Per Fannie Mae, my Loan Acquisition Date is 12-14-09, mortgage co. reports 2-9-09. Who's right? Why would these two dates differ?

Acquisition by a servicer does not have any direct relationship with acquisition by Fannie Mae.   They often will occur at similar times but there are plenty of circumstances where it could differ.    I would rely on the Fannie Mae indication as the correct one, and unfortunately your date will be after the deadline for HARP refinance eligibility.

Most likely the mortgage company you closed your loan with in February keep it on their books for a while before selling to Fannie Mae or sold it to a private investor and they, in turn, sold it to Fannie Mae in December.

Did you use the Fannie Mae Loan Look up tool? If so, the date that Fannie Mae has is the correct date.

Do I have to HARP with the same lender? Or can I shop around for other lenders?
