There are currently no plans in congress for another tax credit. Being an election year, any chance of a tax credit would be dependent on who wins the House and Senate.

FYI, the DC first-time home buyer credit of $5000 has been extended through 2011.

I don't think we will see the tax creedit come back, if you are considering buying in Maryland you may have some options. The Maryland Mortgage Program administered by the CDA has great rates 3.875% 30 year fixed with zero points. and you can get $5,000 towards downpayment or closing costs. If the politicians have learned anything from the results of the last subsidy, it ain't gonna happen. Unfortunately, anything's possible based on the recent history of utter incompetency.
